Following the Sept 11 attack on New York the business had to refocus away from venture funded companies wanting to enter the US market. A wider and more international customer base was necessary to make the company less vulnerable to fluctuations in the investment market.
The International Centre of Business Link, Hertfordshire, part of Trade Partners UK, suggested Neil joined the Medilink delegation to visit the Medica Exhibition in Düsseldorf.
Enhanced promotional efforts included revamping the web-site www.meddiquest.com and utilising the Trade Partners UK web-site listings to publicise services.
Neil went on the "speaker circuit", presenting at national and international conferences. Trade Partners UK were able to provide embassy contacts.
Commitment shown to potential customers by extensive travelling was further demonstrated by pricing contracts in Euro and Dollars as well as Sterling.
"Last year we were not an exporter, this year exports account for over 80% of sales," says Neil. "Perhaps more importantly, our international customers now see the UK as logical springboard into the EU market. The business now has two foci: helping companies to meet EU regulations in addition to US regulations.
"Since January we have signed new contracts with companies from North America, the EU, other European countries and the Middle East."
